If you haven’t heard already, the Yorkshire Wolds Cycle Challenge is getting ever closer as we prepare for the fun-filled weekend touring some of Yorkshire’s greatest market towns and exploring the Wolds’ gorgeous rolling landscapes.
With only ten weeks to go, we’re eagerly counting down the days to loving life on two wheels. This is the perfect opportunity to do something different and exciting this summer; to get fit and enjoy life on two wheels. Whether you are still waiting to sign up, are umm-ing and ahh-ing whether to or not, or have signed up already and need a boost to get you as excited as we are, here are a few reasons why you should be ready to saddle up for the 2022 Yorkshire Wolds Cycle Challenge.

Firstly, save the dates - Saturday and Sunday, July 2nd and 3rd - as you won’t want to miss what we have in line to make this the best year yet!
It’s a challenge, but worth it for the views

The 144-mile cycle takes place over two days, breaking it evenly into 72 miles a day. Starting at Norton College, the route moves in an anti-clockwise direction this time out, so all those hills you climbed last year can be enjoyed coming down this time! The loop comes in a full circle that will see you discover some of the best countryside around; ‘God’s Town’ as it is known for a reason. Although this event is recognised by British Cycling, you should know this isn’t a competition or a race. We encourage riders of all ages, experience and abilities to join us and make it a great day for all.

It’s all for a great cause

As every year, along with the aim of finishing the challenge with your friends, the main goal in sight is to raise money for Ryedale Special Families which supports families of children and young people with disabilities and additional needs.

We are hoping to fundraise as much as possible with every rider's total contributing to the goal Ryedale Special Families have set of £250,000 which is 86% of the way there. The new building, aimed to be finished in summer of 2023, will run activities including group and individual sessions and activities for young adults in the Ryedale Supported Futures programme.

For those who have already booked their place on the challenge this year, this is the perfect motivator to get raising money if you haven’t already and help make a difference. Book yourself onto the Yorkshire Wold Cycle Challenge Hall of fame by raising £350 and get a legendary golden shirt to match your legendary status.
It’s a social day too

Community spirit is a big part of the event, and enjoyment is at the forefront. Not only is enjoying the views with friends a brilliant day out, but the event really comes alive at night, at the halfway point, where our overnight camp has a licensed bar and food. This is the perfect opportunity to rest those tired legs and relax with old – and new – friends.
We have live entertainment

We are very happy to announce Richard Silvester will round off the night with live music, singing and playing his guitar to well-known favourites. This is an amazing addition to the event to get the crowd singing and dancing away the night.
To see more about Richard, check out his Facebook and Instagram here!

So to get involved in the challenge, have a blast soaking up the countryside, meet new friends and enjoy a great weekend raising money for a great cause!\
